  Make a Comment1. To make a comment, click on the "Comments" link on the top right hand corner of the user interface.
2. Enter your comments and follow the instructions on the comments screen.
3. You can click on the "Save" button to save your work and continue to write.
4. You can spell check your comment by clicking on the
icon to the left of the comments field.
5. Click the "Submit" button to submit your comments when you are finished.

1. To add a new layer within a group, click on the
icon in the group.
2. Select "Add New Layers" from the menu.
3. A new browser window will open displaying the layer choices.
4. Select a layer to add and click the
button.
5. To add a new group, click on the
icon and select the "Add New Group" menu item.
A new browser window will open. Enter a group and click "Update".

1. To delete a layer, click on the layer name and select "Delete Layer".
2. To delete an entire group, click the
icon in the group.

1. To move a layer within the Layer List, move the mouse over the layer until the
icon appears.
2. Left click on the mouse to select the layer.
3. While holding the left button of the mouse, move the layer to the chosen location within the Layers tab.

The IWRIS Layer Library contains numerous GIS layers. In order to add a layer to your Layer Menu, please click on the Add a New Layer or Group link. The Layer List can be viewed by clicking here.

1. Click on the Layers tab.

2. Expand a group to view the layer contents by clicking on the
icon.
3. To collapse the contents of a group, click the
icon.
4. To view a layer on the map, check the first box next to the layer's name.

5. To make a layer not visible on the map, uncheck the first box next to the layer's name.
6. For detailed information about the layers, click on the Legend tab.

1. To access the Meta Data for a layer, move the mouse over the selected layer name in the Layers tab and click the left mouse button.

2. Select "Meta Data" from the menu. Please note that Meta Data for all layers are not complete in this public beta version.

1. Use the Zoom or other buttons from the tool bar to change the view area of the map.


1. To search by a place name, click the "Find by GNIS" icon.

2. Enter the name of a place and click the Search button.
3. From the Place Name search results, click on a Place Name to bring it into view on the map.

1. To search by township, locate the Township layer. If the layer is not addeded then see the Add a New Layer or Group section.

2. Check the first box to view the feature on the map.
3. Click the radio button next to Township.
4. Click the "Search" icon.

5. Enter the name, number, or any other identifiable characteristic of the township.
Then click the "Find String" button to display the search results.
6. Click on a township record from the search results to highlight and center the image on the map.

1. To search by county, click on the "Select a County" drop-down menu.

2. Select a county. The county will be highlighted on the map and tabular data will be displayed.
3. Click on the tabular data to obtain project information for the county.

1. In order to get information about a feature, a layer must first be chosen by clicking the radio button next to the layer's name.

2. Select the Identify tool by clicking on the "Identify" icon.

2a. Click on a feature on the map to view tabular information about that feature.
2b. To obtain detailed information contained in a particular feature, click on that feature in the tabular data.

1. Click on the "SQL Query" icon.

2. Enter search criteria in the query guide.

2a. Click the "Execute" button to view tabular information about the selected feature(s). Please note that pressing on the "Enter" key on your keyboard will not display the results.
2b. To obtain detailed information contained in a particular feature, click on that feature in the tabular data.

1. Click on the "Hyperlink" icon.

2. Click on a feature on the map to display data for that feature in a new browser window.

1. To print the map display, click on the "Print" icon.

2. Click on the "Create Print Page" button.
3. A new browser window will open which allows the user to send the image to the printer.

1. To save an image of the map in PNG format, click on the "Save Image" icon.

2. Select a file download location and click on the "Save" button in the File Download dialog box.
